Original Syndicate founder and Head of Design for Vans, Rian Pozzebon organized this 10-year anniversary/farewell to Syndicate show (though rumors were circulating that it’s not over!). Rian is actually a good friend of mine I met back in college in Santa Barbara. I’m so stoked on what he’s done with the Syndicate program over the last decade. Milling over all the shoes and art in the gallery last night brought back so many memories of special eras in skateboarding, Syndicate parties, and of course, dope shoes! The panel consisted of Berto Liechty who founded Syndicate with Rian, Shawn Stussy, Eric Dressen, Jason Dill and Tet Nishiyama known for his WTAPS brand. They discussed the genesis of the brand and how they all got involved which was cool to hear firsthand. Every collab is basically founded on genuine friendships and admiration of each other’s work. Refreshing to hear these days. Get to the Known Gallery on Fairfax and check this show out ASAP!—Blair Alley
