The Narrator, All That To The Wall

The Narrator
All That To The Wall

This is going to be, by far, the least objective review I’ve ever written. The Narrator is like the little band that could. I’m unabashedly smitten by them. Ever since their last album, Such Triumph, I’ve been completely infatuated with their disparate harmonies, daydreaming about being in the band—that sort of weird fanning out.

The Narrator make songs that are, magically, greater than the sum of their parts—two-chord songs, embellished by drums, bass, and utterly sincere lyrics. There was a moment when I first listened to them where I thought they’d patterned themselves after Modest Mouse a bit much, but I guarantee you that’s not the case. I was wrong, which is not the easiest thing for me to admit. Get this album. Listen to it and wonder. I say go for it. Thumbs up. Highly recommended. Stars, stars, stars.—Andreas Trolf
