Field Trip to Neversoft

T.H.U.G. 2 Preview

Neversoft, the company that has done all the Tony Hawk games, had kind of a press day at their offices in Woodland Hills to show off the new game. It was cool, the designer and producer showed off the game, we had a fat-ass lunch catered by Claim Jumper, then we got to play. Pretty much everyone there worked for a video game magazine—I think Eric and I were the only skaters in attendance.

So the new game is really fun. It’s based on just causing hijinks around the world. Tony Hawk’s team versus Bam’s team. There aren’t as many pros in the game as before. Some guys got cut but I can’t tell you who. The two levels we got to play were Boston and Barcelona—the rest of the cities were top secret. There were some bizarre guest skaters like Ben Franklin, Jesse James, who rode a suped-up scooter, and Steve-O in Barcelona riding a mechanical bull. You can now do Natas spins on fire hydrants, poles, and trees, and you can also pick up objects and throw them at people. You can freak out too when you slam and focus your board or chuck it—just like real cry-baby pros!

So if you liked the first THUG, you’ll really like this one. The levels are bigger, there’s way more characters, and tons more to do on each level. Here’s Activision’s official press release on it:

You paid your dues in Tony Hawk’s Underground, now prove yourself in Tony Hawk’s Underground 2. It’s time to go globetrotting on a sick international road trip with Tony Hawk and Bam Margera.
